Nice morning light today. Been awhile since I’ve seen this color.
I found these formations on the beach the other morning that I thought were quite interesting. They remind me of Andy Goldsworthy’s work except these were done by Mother Nature. One of the things I love about this stretch of beach is the patterns that form in the sand and these were unusual to me the way the ice formed around the crack where the water was flowing. They remind me of scars that will soon heal with the changing of the tide and you would never know they were there. The following shot reminds me of a forest in winter. I could spend hours wandering the shoreline if I had the time.
If it weren’t for Delta canceling my flight to LaGuardia today I would have missed this nice sunrise. Luckily I don’t believe anyone was seriously injured in the Delta flight that slid off the runway yesterday at LaGuardia. I wised up and used hand warmers today and actually got some other cool shots of ice and sand sculptures that I’ll post later.
Man, I don’t know what it was this morning but fingers just couldn’t take the cold. I had gloves on and the temp was 5 or so degrees which is warmer than some other mornings I’ve been out but my fingers got so cold they hurt and then almost went numb. I’m gonna have to get some better gloves or some hand warmers to slip in my gloves. Looking forward to not having to wear gloves soon even though I love the slushy shores.
Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, doo, doo, dee doo, dee doo, dee doo. Got stuck in my head today as I was ho hum about the surise this morning and my hands were freezing. I reminded myself how lucky I am to be able to get up in the morning and drive to the beach to watch the sunrise at all as some aren’t as fortunate to have the privilege. Sometimes it’s easy to find yourself wishing the light was different or the clouds or tide or whatever and I have to sometimes snap myself out of that mindset and remember to always look at the bright side, even if the light isn’t literally bright. It’s always a good idea to take what you’re given and make the best of it.
